Employers' Guidelines

Print This Page Print This Page Email This Page Email This Page

You should consider your decision to employ a Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) seriously.

There are other alternatives such as childcare centres, play schools and homes for the old or sick. You should also consider if you are able to provide for, maintain and properly manage the FDW during her stay with you.

This will help prevent miscommunication and other problems which could arise in your working relationship with your FDW.

It takes time and effort to nurture a good working relationship between employers and their FDWs. The likelihood of misunderstandings and disputes will be minimised greatly if both parties decide from the start to make the relationship work. Employers should also be reasonable when assigning household chores.

A happy FDW who is well taken care of is less likely to cause problems than one who is unhappy.

You can request your Employment Agency to make available the employment history of the FDW you intend to employ. This will enable you, as an employer, to make better informed choices in your selection of FDWs.
