The Manpower Research and Statistics Department of the Ministry of Manpower is conducting the 2006 Survey on Annual Wage Changes from 18 December 2007 to 7 March 2008. The main objective of the survey is to gauge the response of establishments to the 2006 National Wage Council (NWC) wage guidelines.
Survey questionnaires have been mailed to some 4,700 establishments in the private sector to collect information on
Basic wage changes and bonuses paid to employees; and
Company policies pertaining to the implementation of
- monthly variable component (MVC);
- competitive-base wage system;
- tripartite taskforce on wage restructuring; and
- information sharing with employees.
All establishments can access the Internet Establishment Survey System (iESS) and submit their survey returns electronically via the internet. Those who submit their returns online will be able to receive email alerts on the Department's releases of publications on the labour market.
Establishments are kindly requested to give their fullest co-operation by furnishing the required information on time to enable the success of the survey. The information furnished will be kept strictly confidential and used only for the purpose of producing aggregate statistics.
