Tripartite Delegation to attend International Labour Organization's 16th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting

  1. Minister of State (MOS) for Manpower Sam Tan will lead a tripartite delegation to attend the 16th Session of the Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) in Bali, Indonesia from 6 to 8 December 2016. The APRM is an International Labour Organization (ILO)-organised event held once every five years at the Ministerial-level. It brings together the ILO’s tripartite constituents from the Asia-Pacific region to discuss issues relevant to both the region and the ILO. 
  2. The delegation comprises Ms Mary Liew, President, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC); Mr Edwin Lye, Acting Executive Director, Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF); union members, employer representatives and officials from the Ministry of Manpower. 
  3. The 16th APRM will discuss various issues, such as the future of work, job creation and the challenges towards inclusive and sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region. 
  4. MOS Tan will deliver a plenary speech on Singapore’s efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth through transforming our economy and upskilling our workforce, supported by our tripartite approach. He will meet with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the Meeting. MOS Tan, Ms Liew and Mr Lye will also make a joint call on the Director-General of the ILO, Mr Guy Ryder.
