Singapore Public Holidays 2013

1. The dates for the 11 gazetted public holidays for 2013 are as follows:

   * As Chinese New Year falls on Sunday 10 February 2013 and Monday 11 February 2013, the next day, Tuesday 12 February 2013, will be a public holiday.
   
   
   # The following Monday will be a public holiday.
2. The date, 3 November 2013, for Deepavali needs to be checked against the Indian Almanac when it is available. Should there be a change in date, the Ministry of Manpower will issue a media release to announce the change.
3. The list of public holidays for 2013 is available on the Ministry of Manpower's website.
   
   DEEPAVALI DATE FOR 2012
4. There is no change to the Deepavali date this year. It will be on 13 November 2012, as previously announced.
   
   PAYMENT FOR WORK DONE ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY
5. The Ministry would like to remind all employers that under the Employment Act, an employee who is required to work on a public holiday is entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay, in addition to the gross rate of pay for that holiday. The employer and employee may mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for any other day.
