Declare Income by 30 June 2007 to Get Workfare Bonus for Work Done in 2006

The last day for declaration of income to qualify for the second and final portion of the Workfare Bonus Scheme (WBS 2007), for work done in 2006, is 30 June 2007. Declarations made after this date will not be accepted.

2.   Declaration of income applies only to Singaporeans who meet the Workfare Bonus criteria1 but do not have CPF contributions for work done in 2006, and did not receive an income tax return (IRAS form B). The income declaration exercise to qualify for the Workfare Bonus began on 1 February this year. Those who have yet to make income declarations can still do so at all 5 CPF Service Centres.

3.   The WBS is part of the Progress Package that gives a cash bonus to older, low wage Singaporean workers to reward regular and productive work. More than 340,000 low wage workers received a total of about $157 million for the first portion. As of 31 May 2007, 348,000 Singaporeans have already received the second portion amounting to a total of $162 million.
