Application Process

Sponsorship scheme

Under the Sponsorship Scheme, an employer must:

• Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
• Be 60 years old and above
• Not be earning an income
• Not be staying with any working adults; and depend on the income of the sponsors (employer’s children/children's spouses, employer’s grandchildren/grandchildren’s spouses or employer’s siblings). A maximum of two sponsors is allowed.
  

Online Application

Step 1: Submission of application

• Work Permit application for Foreign Domestic Worker can be made online through WP Online - an online portal for selected work pass transactions. (SingPass is required for login).

• A $20 administrative fee will be charged for each Work Permit application submitted. Payment can be made online using Visa/MasterCard or eNets Debit.

Step 2: Assessment and approval

• It takes seven working days from the date of receipt of the documents to process the Work Permit application. The outcome can be accessed and printed online.
• Successful employers will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter or a “Letter of Notification to bring the Foreign Domestic Worker into Singapore” for first-time Foreign Domestic Workers.

Manual Application

Step 1: Submission of application

• Submit the completed Work Permit application form under Sponsorship Scheme in person at any SingPost office (MOM-appointed collecting agent).
• A $20 administrative fee will be charged for each Work Permit application submitted. Payment can be made at SingPost using cash, NETS or CashCard.
• Download Work Permit Application Form under Sponsorship Scheme.

Step 2: Assessment and approval

• It takes seven working days to process the Work Permit application. The outcome will be mailed to the employer.
• Successful applicants will receive an IPA letter or a “Letter of Notification to bring the Foreign Domestic Worker into Singapore” for first-time Foreign Domestic Workers.
