Foreign Worker Levy

The Foreign Worker Levy is a pricing mechanism to control the number of foreign workers (including foreign domestic workers) in Singapore.

An employer who is liable to pay the levy for his foreign workers is not required to pay CPF contributions for them. However, the employer is required to pay the Skills Development Levy for the workers at the prevailing rate and wage ceiling. However, if a work permit holder on the Foreign Worker Levy Scheme is subsequently granted Singapore Permanent Resident status, he will be placed on the CPF scheme. This will take effect from the day he is granted SPR status.
